Key Tag Service

This Is a War Amps Key Tag!

Order Your Key Tags Today

War Amps key tags safeguard your keys, including expensive-to-replace car fobs. The Key Tag Service is free – and it works!

How do key tags work?

  • Key tags are mailed to Canadians once a year. See mailing schedule
  • Attach a confidentially coded War Amps key tag to your key ring. It is registered only to your name and address.
  • If you lose your keys, the finder can call the number on the back of the tag or drop them in any mailbox in Canada.
  • The War Amps will return your keys to you by courier, free of charge.

Since amputee veterans started the Key Tag Service in 1946, more than 1.5 million sets of lost keys have been returned to their owners. Key tags are produced in Canada at The War Amps sheltered workshop, employing people with disabilities.

The Key Tag Service is free, but if you find value in The War Amps programs and services, you can choose to make a donation.

Found a Set of Lost Keys?

Canada Post operations have resumed; however, due to their significant backlog, it may take longer than normal for us to receive lost keys by mail. If you find a set of keys with a War Amps key tag, please call 1 800 250‑3030 to arrange their return.

You Make Our Programs Possible

When you use a War Amps key tag, you protect your keys and support amputees. Donations to the Key Tag Service make all of our essential programs for amputees possible, providing peer support, much-needed funding for artificial limbs and a strong organization to advocate for their rights. You are a part of what we do, and we can’t thank you enough.

“To the donors who have allowed our son to be a CHAMP, we can’t thank you enough. Thank you for making it so that he doesn’t see himself as less able than anyone else. You have changed his life and allowed him to be the best he can be and enjoy life to the fullest.” Jessica and Allan, CHAMP parents

Partnership With Canada Post

A set of keys with a War Amps key tag, deposited in a mailbox in Canada, is forwarded to us as a result of an agreement between Canada Post and The War Amps. We do not have such an agreement with postal services outside of Canada. Although some keys have been returned to Canadian owners from locations abroad, we cannot guarantee that our tags will protect your keys if they are lost outside Canada. We can guarantee, though, that The War Amps toll-free number, printed on the back of the tag, does work in the United States.

“The Key Tag Service really does work. My keys were returned this morning by courier less than two weeks after I lost them. Yesterday, I priced the cost of replacing my car key fob – it was $367. Thanks to all involved.” Bob
