SUDBURY “CHAMP” FEATURED IN NEW WAR AMPS PSA

October 29, 2018 – Local residents may spot a familiar face on their TV screens this week as Sophia Carlson, 9, of Sudbury, is featured in a new War Amps public service announcement (PSA) airing across Canada.

Being born a left arm amputee hasn’t stopped Sophia from living a full and active life. As a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, she has received financial assistance for the cost of artificial limbs that she uses to rock climb, play piano and swim. She is proud of the “helping hands” she uses to achieve her goals.

Through the CHAMP Program, Sophia also attends regional seminars where she meets other kids just like her. “With the support of The War Amps, Sophia has all the tools she needs to overcome the challenges that come with being an amputee,” says her dad, Ryan. “So, to all the people that have donated to the Association, I just say thank you.”

The War Amps receives no government grants. Its programs are possible through public support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service. For more information, visit waramps.ca or call toll-free 1 800 250-3030.
