Feranmi’s Story
Feranmi was born with complications affecting both legs, and his doctors said the best option to allow him to walk properly was amputation.
Fortunately, the hospital told his mother about The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, and she soon learned that she was not alone. When they went to their first CHAMP Seminar, she had the opportunity to share concerns and receive advice from other parents. This gave her encouragement and hope, and it showed her that Feranmi had a bright future ahead of him.
Feranmi was fitted with his first set of artificial legs at the age of two, and he has outgrown many since then. His everyday artificial legs allow him to walk and do things independently. He also has running legs, which are lightweight and give him a spring in his step so he can run, jump and play his favourite sports.
