1920-2008

Jim Moodie

James “Jim” Moodie was born on May 6, 1920. He enlisted with the Royal Montreal Regiment in August 1938, then served with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and the First Special Service Force. He was posted overseas in December 1939 and fought in the Aleutian Islands and the Italian Campaign. While in Anzio, Italy, in March 1944, he stepped on a mine and lost his left leg below the knee.

Mr. Moodie was discharged from service in September of that year and returned to Canada, where he first joined The War Amps Montreal Branch before relocating and joining the Hamilton Branch. He held the positions of:

  • Executive Member, Hamilton Branch
  • Second Vice-President, First-Vice President and President, Hamilton Branch
  • National Director, Hamilton Branch

He was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Membership and Honorary CHAMP Membership. Mr. Moodie passed away on June 15, 2008.
