Gordon Forbes

Gordon Forbes was born on January 3, 1925, in London, Ontario, and enlisted with the Army in 1941 when he was just 16 years old. While serving with the Perth Regiment in Italy, he lost his foot due to an explosion when he was crossing a minefield to attack an enemy position. He returned to Canada in 1945 on board the Lady Nelson hospital ship.

Mr. Forbes joined The War Amps in 1961 and would go on to serve as National Director of the Western Ontario Branch in 2007, 2008 and 2010. He was known for being a strong supporter of the CHAMP Program and would meet with child amputees and their parents at CHAMP seminars and PLAYSAFE parades.

In recognition of his service, he was presented with the Honourary CHAMP Membership.

Mr. Forbes passed away on September 24, 2017.
