George C. Millar

George C. Millar was born on December 30, 1898, in Arden, Manitoba, and enlisted as a Private with the Canadian Expeditionary Force (Cyclist Division) in January 1917. He was transferred to the 2nd Canadian Reserve Battalion, and then to the 54th Battalion in October 1917.

While serving overseas in France in September 1918, Mr. Millar lost his left arm above the elbow and was fitted with an artificial arm the next year.

Back in Canada, he was widely known and esteemed in Toronto’s business circles. He used his experience to assist The War Amps in various executive roles, including:

  • President, Toronto Branch
  • Executive Member, First Dominion Council, The War Amps
  • Business Manager, War Amps publication The Fragment
  • Member, War Amps Ways and Means Committee

Mr. Millar passed away in 1932.
